Allseas continues ROV fleet expansion with three more Schilling UHD™ ROVs

Vehicles will be outfitted to facilitate survey and pipelay inspection operations.

Davis, California—August 31, 2007.  Schilling Robotics, a leading producer of remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs), will supply Allseas Group S.A. with three additional ultraheavy-duty UHD™ ROV systems in late 2008.  Allseas will use the systems to perform survey support, pipeline touchdown monitoring, and a wide array of construction support tasks in the world’s major oil and gas regions.

The ROVs feature 150 shp and are rated for operation to 4000 meters.  The systems include Schilling Robotics extended-excursion XE™ TMS systems, two of which have 850-meter tethers and independent propulsion systems.

Special features for survey and pipeline inspection operations include camera booms and profilers that pop up from the vehicle’s rear for deployment.  Schilling’s standard AutoTrack™ utility, which allows survey coordinates to control vehicle movement, will further facilitate survey operations.

Says Schilling Robotics’ Regional Manager Jason Stanley, “We are obviously very pleased that Allseas, which is one of the world’s major offshore pipelay and subsea construction companies, is placing additional UHD orders with us.  We appreciate their confidence, and we know that we can supply the most advanced subsea technology available.”

Schilling Robotics was selected by Allseas in 2007 to exclusively supply ROV technology for use on Allseas vessels, and the three new UHD systems will join four others delivered in 2007 and early 2008.

Saipem America introduces the Innovator® LEVIATHAN

A new 250hp heavy work class ROV
Houston, TX (July 31, 2007): Saipem America is pleased to introduce their most powerful heavy work class ROV to date – the new 250hp Innovator® LEVIATHAN. Delivering unsurpassed power through seven (7) hydraulic thrusters, the Innovator® LEVIATHAN is a dominant performance workhorse in the industry. The 250hp dual-shaft electric motor powers four (4) 17" horizontal thrusters capable of more than 1,200 lbs of thrust each and three (3) 15" vertical thrusters providing a total of 3,450lbf of horizontal thrust. Thruster control for harsh operating conditions is provided by way of mechanical thruster repositioning to give 30°, 45° or 60° thrust angle with respect to the foreaft vehicle axis, and the vertical thrusters will have pitch and roll control.

Acting as a stable work platform for all of Saipem America's future subsea intervention and support systems, the Innovator® LEVIATHAN is engineered to operate continuously despite high current or extended dive conditions - aiming to increase the operability to 4.5 knots current. Additionally, the Innovator® LEVIATHAN has many other operational and control features serving to minimize the amount of costly subsea downtime and equipment necessary for deepwater operations, while improving performance, flexibility, and reliability of the critical operational components; providing operators and installation contractors the vast flexibility they need in an ROV to perform complicated, uninterrupted deepwater operations at a significant cost savings.

The first Innovator® LEVIATHAN will be performing a wide range of heavy-duty subsea well intervention, installation and construction work for a major operator on a long-term project in the Gulf of Mexico.

Saipem America Inc. business activities encompass all of the Saipem Group expertise, which include onshore construction, offshore installation and construction, including the activities of Sonsub’s subsea and ROV capabilities, LNG, marine works, drilling maintenance, modification and operation (MMO) and FPSO product lines.
